Vision

Our vision is to lead the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) in the successful transition to a bona fide, sustainable Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC) where research, patient care, and education intersect.

Mission

Through leadership, innovation, and working collaboratively with regional and local stakeholders, members of the Research Department will carry out research in accordance with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and keeping to the values of patient centred care and excellence. Further, the goal of the Research Department is to establish a successful Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC). Our aim is to advance research, healthcare and education assets in the Northeast region that reinforces the commitment to evidence based care and drives regional innovation, with a focus on:

  • Functional Neuroimaging
  • Cognitive Neuroscience
  • Applied Research
  • Quality Indicator Analyses

We are committed to

  1. Communicating the opportunities, outcomes and societal benefits of our research, and innovative activities
  2. Creating world class partnerships and attracting highly qualified personnel
  3. Serving as a nucleus of a health sciences cluster in the northeast region
  4. Supporting the full potential of the North Bay Regional Health Centre in providing the best evidence-based health care for patients, clients and residents
  5. Using research to further scientific knowledge in the delivery of quality, innovative and safe patient-centered care
  6. Strong focus on continual publication of original research in peer-reviewed journals and wide dissemination of research findings at conferences, seminars and scientific meetings
  7. To develop the North Bay Regional Health Centre into an integral member of a functioning academic health science network
  8. Continuing to provide financial, administrative and professional support to the North Bay Regional Health Centre's Research Ethics Board. This Board operates in compliance with the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS).
  9. Ensuring ethical responsibility, integrity, and compliance with legal, regulatory, scientific and national standards in all facets of research
